First Impression: Courtesan

It’s been a long time since I posted any of my first impressions. I’ve been a bit behind in my reading. Over the weekend, I downloaded a bunch of samples and made a few book purchases. Coutesian by D.A. Boulter was among them.

I had sampled Pelgraff and the story didn’t really grab me. It happens. That doesn’t make it a bad book. It just wasn’t a good fit for me when I had chosen to sample it. In contrast, Courtesan grabbed me from the start. It had its hooks into me and my wallet before I realized what was happening. Yes, the sample is that good.

You get a feel for Jaswinder and her world without a massive dump of information. The writing is solid and held my attention. The pacing was at the right speed for me. If the rest of the book is as good as the sample, this one is a winner. As with all things, your mileage might vary so don’t take my word for it. If you have time, check out the sample.
