KDP Tip and Tricks: Notifying Readers About Updated Versions

This tip is geared for those who publish books through Kindle Digital Publishing.

After I updated my first book with a new cover and to correct the errors pointed out to me, I tried to notify people there was a new version available. I started a threads on the forums I frequented and made a blog post here. It turns out there is a much easier way.

You can ask Amazon to email everyone who has purchased your book to let them know a new version is available. Here are the steps:

  1. Go to the Amazon KDP page.
  2. Click “Contact Us” at the bottom of the page.
  3. On the Contact page, click “Publish Your Book” then “Making Corrections”

This will bring up a message box. There will be a field for the title of your book and its ASIN. In the message area, let Amazon know you have an updated version of your book available and ask them to email people who have brought your book about the update. A few days later, Amazon will send out an email to alert your readers.

In the future Amazon hopes to add a way for users to learn and request updated versions on the Manage Your Kindle screen.

Note: This tip was originally posted in a discussion on Google+ as well as on Kindle Boards.
