I’ve gotten a lot more picky about my science fiction. I tend to gravitate towards stories with strong characters and compelling settings where the science doesn’t overwhelm the fiction. With that in mind, I decided to sample Starship Eternal by M.R. Forbes. I wasn’t disappointed.
The story gets right into it, introducing us to the main character, the setting, and the technology. The first few chapters give you a feel for all three. I found myself being drawn into the story and world. My one gripe was with some of the terminology used. There was a point where I had to go back to the beginning of the sample to jog my memory about one of the abbreviations. That wasn’t enough to ruin my enjoyment of the book but it did distract me from the story.
I’ll be adding this book to my library in the near future.
